Tha
Realest Biography
Tha Realest
aka Jevon Jones was born in Dallas, Texas. Both of his grandmothers raised
young Jevon and his father was a preacher. He began rapping in '82/'83. He
grew up listenin' to both East and Westcoast rap and particularly artists
such as Ice-T and Run DMC. Tha Realest's favourite artist is Tupac Shakur
and many comparisons have been drawn with the late great Tupac and many
people have called him a Tupac biter. Tha Realest has his own clique named
Last Circle, who he has done many songs with and he also has his own
producers such as J.Flexx, Kurt Kobaine and Hurt 'em Bad who contributed on
the tracks he done on "Gang Related" under the alias Tenkamenin.
Tha Realest signed to Death Row Records in 1996 after performing for Suge
and Tupac at a boxing match and Suge was supposed to have been very
impressed and recruited him later on in the year but this was after Tupac's
death so he didn't get the chance to work with his idol. When Tha Realest
was called Tenkamenin he decided to change his name after him and Suge
Knight realized alot of people could not pronounce the name Tenkamenin (a
black African king in the 1500s). They decided on the name 'Tha Realest'.
Tha Realest has appeared on 3 albums "Gang Related" under the
alias Tenkamenin, "Chronic 2000: Still Smoking" and "Too
Gangsta For Radio". He has been on the Westcoast for about 8 years now
and has been involved in his fair share of controversy. He was shot in the
foot in a drive by shooting when Kurupt's body guard died. Then he had
beef with former Death Row rapper "Chocalte Bandit" who was
claiming he was the only southern rapper on Tha Row when Tha Realest is also
so he dissed him on "Easy To Be A Soldier When There Ain't A War"
and Chocalte was supposedly talking shit behind his back. Then on the
"Too Gangsta For Radio" compilation he dissed many people on
"Fuck D.R.E." and "Fuck Hollywood". Tha Realest has an
album scheduled for release from Death Row but has left the label to form
his own independent label and many unreleased Realest tracks are around the
internet and bootlegs have been released with these tracks on.
